BrickWars Sets Description

Lego Star Wars 7749 Echo Base from Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It was a Rebel facility constructed on Hoth after the Battle of Yavin. After buying a map showing the locations of multiple caverns in the area from an old smuggler, the Rebels began construction on what was to become Echo Base. The area the Rebel base was situated on was the only place on Hoth with a liveable temperature, which was a band near the equator. The already existant caves were reinforced, creating pathways. After two years, construction was complete. The new Echo Base was a fully operational and heavily defended base. The facility included perimeter trenches, static anti-infantry and anti-vehicle emplacements, V-150 Planet Defender ion cannon, OrC-19 planetary com-scan unit, theater shield, and command center. Inside Echo Base were also two massive hangars. The entire base could house 7,500 combat and command personnel, 350 medical personnel, and 120 droids. The hangars themselves could house nearly thirty GR-75 medium transports, sixty Rebel starfighters, twelve snowspeeders, the Millennium Falcon and Outrider.

The Lego 7749 Echo Base contains 155 pieces and includes 5 minifigures.

7749 - Echo Base
This set depicting some of the Hoth battle scenes is one fine small set I have purchased just recently. And it was a reasonable buy.

Set Pros:
- very nice detailed Han Solo and Tauntaun
- the turret is awesome
- also all other figures are nicely done
- each figure has a weapon

Set Cons:
- the rebels' catapulting platform behind the barricade is meaningless - it does not add much to the playability or details

My overall rating is 8 / 10.

This is a great army builder and everything except the price is awesome!

THE MINIFIGURES: This set is bursting with amazingly detailed and rare minifigs. You get Han Solo with his Hoth gear - the hood looks great! Then you get two Hoth rebels. They look fantastic and their visors are cool. The snowtroopers are great - their helmets are so detailed. Finally, the tauntaun looks good but it is a shame that it can't move ist legs.

THE TURRET: Not much to say about this. The flick missiles are cool and so is the turret itself.

THE MAIN BIT: The big part of the set looks realistic and LEGO have done a good job here! The killing feature is unique and usually works. The general colour scheme and accuracy of this set is very good. The cannon that the snowtroopers have looks cool, but doesn't do anything.

OTHER COMMENTS: The set is quite expensive for what it has - 155 pieces for £20 isn't that good value. The build was very easy and is good for beginners. Plus the instructions were clear.

So, to recap:

PROS:
Great minifigs.
Good colour scheme.
Easy build
Flick missiles work.
Turret looks good.
Dying feature is good and it works

CONS
Tauntaun can't move.
OVERPRICED!!!

Overall, a good set that is a little overpriced, but you can play with is forever. Buy is while stocks last. Come on LEGO, release the rebel control room and the Snowspeeder again and then people can have the whole collection!
Hope this review was helpful.

RATING OUT OF 10: 8/10

Pros:Echo Base is a very good set. Fantastic rare minifigs and good value make this an excellent set. The Snowtroopers are very good, as are the Rebel troops with new goggles. The new tauntaun figure is also well done, and Han Solo is a nice touch. The set is highly enjoyable to build and quite sturdy. This set includes a generous amount of minifigs and pieces. Well done LEGO! Cons:The pathetic flick missile system will downgrade the rating very slightly. Other than this there is nothing to complain about. Lego 7749 Echo Base

Well, for this set, I wouldn't really call it Echo Base as it doesn't really relate to Echo Base. A more resonable name would be Hoth Defense. Anyways, this set is mainly for Lego collectors, such as I, or people who just love Lego. Well, enough chit-chat, here is my pros and cons.

*Pros*
-Han Solo (hoth) actually has a hood instead of hair.
-New googles for the Rebel Troopers.
-Launching missles.
-Turret has a spot to sit on top or "hiding" compartment on the bottom.
-"Launching" feature on the barrier.
-The first Tauntaun!
-A more accurate design of the Snowtrooper's E-Web Turret
-Fun for little kids to build.

*Cons*
-Way overpriced $25 for 155 pieces is not worth it.
-Short build time. If your a teen-adult, then build time should take atleast 20 minutes at maximum.
-More mini-figures would make the price more resonable.
-Unstable on soft stuff(ex: carpet/rug/matress).

Overall, It's fun to play with when you're bored so I guess you could say it's a 8.5/10.
