BrickWars Sets Description

Lego Star Wars 7679 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter was Anakin Skywalker's personal, customized Jedi starfighter he used during the Clone Wars. Compared to other starfighters, the Jedi starfighter was highly advanced and carried sophisticated equipment, though it was expensive to produce. It is armed with four laser cannons, one on each wing and two on the very front of the ship. It is a Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor. As the name suggests, it was designed specifically to target, hunt down and destroy enemy craft quickly and effectively. However, these fighters were dubbed "Jedi starfighters" because of the Jedi's extensive use of the ship.

The Lego 7669 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter contains 153 pieces and includes 2 minifigures.

LEGO STAR WARS 7669: Anakin's Jedi Starfighter

This is a fantastic set!

Let's start with the minifigures. This set comes with the Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker amd R2-D2. Nothing much to say about them.

The ship itself is cool and has a lot more features than you would expect for £20. It has wings that fold down one notch, giving it a cool wedged-shape. The ship is made up of yellow and grey pieces, with a few orange pieces in the interior.

The flick missiles are fun and they work quite well. The wings are more or less symmetrical. R2-D2 goes in a space in the centre of the ship. Some LEGO Technic pieces are connected in a line to R2-D2's hatch. When you puch the button-type thing at the back, the last piece in the line is pushed upwards, pushing R2 out of the space. And that is his ejector seat.

SO to recap:

PROS:
Flick missiles that work.
R2's ejector seat.
Color scheme.
Minifigures.
Bent Wings

CONS:
NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this set and I give it 10/10.

I am reviewing set 7669 anakins jedi starfighter. This is a good cheap set. However R2 wobbles around a lot and he falls out easily. However I changed this by taking off the orange piece and putting on a different one. However if you do that the eject button wont work. On to pros and cons.
pros= cool anakin and R2, droid socket for R2, blasters move, flick missiles, wings can be adjusted, landing gear
cons= R2 falls out easily and shakes around [can be fixed], cockpit needs to be taken off to seat someone
It loses some points because of the droid socket but even so I give it 7/10.

Pros:
1) Price that I paid was very reasonable
2) Very detailed and accurate.
3) fun to build.
4) Nice features such as the landing gear and Asteromech droid ejector.
6) Easy step by step instructions.
7) Anakin has accurate features to the movie on his face and hair style.
8) Includes two figures R2-D2 & Anakin Skywalker

Cons:
1) The way you have to open the cockpit
2) Not any special place to hold the light saber.
3) The missiles are very hard to launch

Remarks:
May not be the biggest or most flashy of them all but but is very fun to build. This was my first step in a long time back into building Lego sets since the Lego Y-Wing Starfighter (Set # 7658) This set came missing the rod that holds the rudder on how ever the Lego help line was very nice to send me the missing part at no cost to me. So I had good service on this set and I would highly recommend this one to any one who is probably just starting out in building Lego like this.

I rate it 8/10

7669 Anakins Jedi Starfighter

BUILDING EXPERIENCE:
Ok first we start off with the basic structure, of course. All who have built anything at all would correctly predict that this is mainly long plates, and bricks. No, not technic.

Layering is then used to achieve a slope in the front of the ship. This is plate-on-top-of-plate layering. Yet, the form and structure is surprisingly sleek and defined, and of course sturdy.

Moving on we build the cockpit. The cockpit doesn't look very big at first, but putting Anakin in, we realise that it's rather cosy! And there's plenty of headroom when I put on the windshield.

A slight let down, though, is that its rather troublesome to seat Anakin, as there is a space underneath the computer that his legs slip into easily. Perhaps TLC should've filled in that empty (and rather pointless) space.

However this is just a insignificant detail; you can't even see it from the outside of the craft.

Moving on to the wings. I liked the wings. They're obviously very simple; stacking and sticking together plates and wing-plates. Nothing much.

However I liked the flick-fire missile feature. Now you must realise that I'm a big-time "hater" of flick-fire missiles, but...

..However, here the piece used for the missile is a technic pin w/ 2L bar. The technic pin part of the element fits nicely into the 2x2 plate w/ technic hole while the 2L bar part makes the thing really look like a missile.

It's not really flick-fire, but it's a really nice detail, ready for play. I also like how the missile barely sticks out from underneath the wing, like artillery hidden, but ready for deployment anytime...

However the wings can be rather repetitive but can I criticise that? I'm afraid I can't, wings are wings and they're symmetrical. George Lucas didn't have one-winged spacecraft in mind when he created starwars.

The wings are folded down one notch, giving the craft a wedged-shape form that i really like. It makes the craft sleek and movie-accurate.

The landing gear is really simple, but I loved it! it folds up and down, of course, and also gives the craft that starwars-y feel, really hard to describe. When landed it really reminded me of Obi-wan's starfghter when he landed on the shadowy rocks of Geonosis. Nice!

Then we move on to the R2 mechanism. It's a rather smart mechanism I have to admit, making use of a few technic parts. When you push the technic axle-beam at the back, it pivots another vertical technic bar clockwise, upwards, pushing R2 out of place.

R2 doesnt really fly, as the boxart may suggest. But the worse thing about the mechanism is that R2 ISN'T LOCKED IN. Which means that when Anakin tried to do his spinning 360 degree trick to evade enemy missiles, R2 just totally fell out and with no co-pilot, Anakin got blown outta the sky. And then Palpatine never became emperor and our Original Trilogy never occured. But of course, a little modding (i changed my 1x2 plate w/ rail into a 2x2 plate), R2 gets something to stand on, and problem solved.

Oh, and did i mention? The mechanism gets jammed if i push it too far. Often.

The last part is the "rudder", or "S-foil", at the back and the two wedges with the Republic insignia stickers. The stickers, though stickers, (which I hate) are a nice touch, and almost printed-looking once you stick them on. They're transparent-based.

Of course, the minifigs must get some mention too. My first impression of Anakin, looking at the box, is that his design was, err, rather grotesque... However, the real thing is much cooler! The boxart photo doesn't do him justice. R2 is just the standard R2 so he's very cool, but nothing much to talk about.

All in all, here's a pro-con style recap.

PROS:
sleek shape
movie-accurate
sturdy stucture
nice colour scheme
missile design
..etc, as also mentioned above.

CONS:
stickers (they're quite well designed, though.)
R2 mechanism-- problematic.
cockpit can't slide/open, must remove piece to access cockpit
..etc, as also mentioned above.

OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10
