BrickWars Sets Description

Lego Star Wars 7665 Republic Cruiser Limited Edition from Episode I: The Phantom Menace, was a Consular-class space cruiser used by the Galactic Republic to transport Jedi and diplomats. All Consular-class space cruisers were painted red to show its diplomatic immunity and as a warning not to attack. Red was the color of of ambassadorial relations and neutrality for capital ships in the Republic, as it had been for centuries. The Republic cruiser was equipped with a salon pod, in which passengers would often meet and have discussions and/or negotiations. It could detach from the entire ship, serving as an escape pod for its important passengers if ever need be. It had its own sensors, life support system, and engines, all in order to protect the diplomats onboard. The diplomatic versions of the cruiser had no weapons. However, there were some that were modified and armed with double turbolaser cannons and two concussion missile launchers. Some were even re-designated as Republic light assault cruisers, and others served as troop carriers and command ships.

The Lego 7665 Republic Cruiser contains 919 pieces and includes 5 minifigures.

My rating out of 10: 9.5

Pros: 1. it is a massive set + pretty challenging (challenging meaning good challenging)
2.it has opening parts to reveal the storge area/ communications center
3.includes the captains mini-jet for a sneaky escape!
4.includes 5 minifigures:Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Republic captain, Republic pilot, and an exclusive R2-R7
5.there's a pod under the pilots area so Obi-Wan and Qui-gon Jinn can make the perfect sneak attack!
6.the radar, located on the back of the ship can spin around so they can spot enemies on all sides
7.the ship has working landing gear for a successful transport

Cons:1.(the only one too)if you drop the ship, you have got a little problem(little being big)

Republic Cruiser (7665)

REVIEW:
Alright, simply put, it can be better. But it is very movie accurate, although it should not have any missiles or weaponry, since this vehicle is meant for peaceful intentions in the movie. But still, no harm with a few more features to play around with!

At the official retail price of 90USD, this is set a real steal. However, anything above 110 USD, and you might wanna spend your cash on something nicer.

Play Experience was good, but not excellent or really-great great. Because it is a realistic, detailed set, and the colours are so appropriate that when you finish it, you'd probably be stuck admiring it. However, opening the roof of the middle section, you see that the cabin area is extremely small. I had tried modding the area into a passenger cabin, but it is impossible without removing the box, space vehicle, R2-R7 and computer. All in all, the possibilities are very limited as there is not much room for minifigs in the cabin at all.

I admit that I complained a lot about this set, but let me tell you that the Consular Cruiser is not an easy ship to replicate. Though not perfect, I feel that this set still deserves a big kudos to The Lego Group, especially thanks to its excellent form and construction. Buying this set, you could simply add a few more studs here and there and voila, your cruiser is perfect.

The shape of the Cruiser is also excellent. The forms and styles of constructions utilised are extremely varied and although the ship looks fragile, it is not, thanks to an extremely sturdy technic frame. You could say that it is delicate, but not fragile.

However, I admit that I never remove the escape pod. Simply because it is so difficult to reattach! The hook keeps getting jammed and the techmic beams that are supposed to hold it always jams. Major area for improvement here.

The cockpit is also extremely cramped. Don't even think of modifying it for multiple minifigs because you (probably) can't.

Another complaint. This applies to many AFOLs all over the world who have gotten this set. See on the box there? It clearly features Qui-Gon Jinn with a Qui-Gon head. So why on earth did I get a EpIII Ob-Wan pattern head? Perhaps its because they look very alike (which is true)... so the factories make mistakes... however that can easily be solved by calling the Company and asking for a FREE replacement, at NO charge.

Everything said, although i made many complaints, I still highly recommend you this set. It is a unique Star Wars (SW) set. You seldom see red in SW. If you are a SW collector like me, this is a must.

Build it for yourself and you will see what I mean. =)
Here's a pro-con style recap:

PROS
no stickers!!!
cool minifigs, R2-R7.
unique form, structure and colors utilised.
sturdy frame.
looks really majestic!

CONS
extremely cramped cabin and cockpit.
may sag over long periods of time, due to weight.
low playability, except "swooshing" it around.
chance of getting wrong head for qui-gon jinn.

OVERALL RATING: 8/10.
