BrickWars Sets Description

The Lego 75014 Battle of Hoth is set that is based on the battle that took place in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It includes a redesigned snowspeeder, a new radar dish/command center, mounted turret and snow barricades, a mobile laser cannon, a white speeder bike, one taun taun, one probe droid, and an assortment of 6 minifigures.

The Viper probe droid was used by the Galactic Empire primarily for reconaissance duties. They were lightly armored and were euipped with a blaster cannon for defense and a self-destruct mechanism to ensure its secrets were not discovered if the droid was captured or disabled. It was lightly armored and had a variety of sensors with different ranges and detection methods (such as motion and sound), as well as a repulsorlift module. Mounted on the bottom of the droid's base was a couple sets of mechanical arms. It had a set of six manipulator arms and a few sensor arms for collecting samples. An Imperial Viper probe droid scouting the icy planet of Hoth managed to discover the secret Rebel base there, which eventually led to the Empire's invasion and subsequently, the Battle of Hoth.

The snowspeeder was a military variant of the T-47 airspeeder. Its original use was for transporting cargo, where its harpoon and tow cable would be used to carry containers and other shipments. It was equipped with mechanical braking flaps and high-powered thrust nozzles, which allowed the airspeeder to maneuver more accurately, especially when carrying delicate cargo or when in situations where space was limited. When the Rebel Alliance modified the airspeeder, they added a CEC AP/11 dual laser cannon on each wing and mounted a light repeating blaster cannon to the rear. Extra armor and controls were also added. There were several variations of the military airspeeder outfitted for different conditions, such as frigid, swamp and desert environments. Leaving the tow cable and harpoon installed proved to be useful in the Battle of Hoth, where the snowspeeders used them to trip the towering Imperial AT-AT's legs.

The Imperial speeder bike was the 74-Z model manufactured by Aratech Repulsor Company and used extensively by Imperial biker scout troopers during the Galactic Civil War. These speeders were capable of extreme speeds, which also made them difficult to maneuver. They could travel up to 500km/h and fly up to 25 meters high. They were armed with a light blaster cannon at the tip of the bike. During the Battle of Hoth, Imperial snowtroopers used them to traverse the battlefield quickly and attack Rebel ground troops and to neutralize their defenses.

The Lego 75014 Battle of Hoth contains 426 pieces and includes 6 minifigures.
